Privacy Policy

Last updated October 21, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Bauta collects, uses, and protects information when you visit bauta.dev, create an account, purchase a subscription, use the bauta command, or contact us.

2. Information We Collect

When you sign in with GitHub, we receive your GitHub account's identifier, username, name, profile picture, and verified primary email address, and we keep your email address, name, GitHub username, and profile picture with your account, together with the version and time of the terms you accepted.

When you purchase a subscription, Paddle collects your payment and billing details. We receive from Paddle the identifiers of your customer record and subscription, your plan, and its status; we never receive or store your card details.

We also keep the communications you send us, such as support requests.

3. Website and Checkout

We may collect limited technical information related to website visits, account access, and service usage, such as IP address, browser type, device information, log data, and general usage events. This information helps us operate, secure, and improve the service.

We may use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand how visitors use our website. It collects no personal identifiers and is not used for advertising.

Our website sets only the cookies needed to sign you in, keep you signed in, and protect sign-in from forgery. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies.

4. The Bauta Software

The Bauta Browser itself sends nothing to our servers. Only the bauta command and its gateway do, and only this:

  • bauta setup without an account: an install identifier made once on your machine, and the bauta version. Our server also sees your IP address, which it uses to limit new free activations and keeps in memory only.
  • bauta activate: your license key, the install identifier, and the bauta version.
  • bauta login: a GitHub token with the scopes read:user and user:email, which we check with GitHub and then discard, the install identifier, and the version of the terms you accept.
  • bauta status: your license key.
  • bauta serve, at most once a minute: your license key, the install identifier, how many personas are active, and the bauta version.

It never sends browsing data, URLs, page contents, cookies, proxies or proxy credentials, or persona details. Downloading the browser fetches files from GitHub's releases; nothing is sent to our servers. Any browsing-related network activity results from normal browser operation, your configuration, or the websites you visit.

5. How We Use Information

We use information to provide and manage the service, process subscriptions, enforce plan limits, respond to support requests, improve our product, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, and communicate important service updates.

6. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Paddle.com, our online reseller and the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle collects and processes payment details, billing information, tax information, and related transaction data according to its own terms and privacy policy.

7. Sharing Information

We do not sell personal information. We share information with the service providers that help us run the service, such as Paddle for payments, GitHub for sign-in and software downloads, Cloudflare for our network, and our hosting provider, and where we are required to by law.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. To make a request, including to delete your account, contact us at [email protected].

11. International Processing

Our servers are located in South Korea, and our service providers may process information in other countries. Your information may therefore be processed in countries other than your country of residence. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
